Divine Dining

by Janet K. Brown

365 Devotions to Guide You
to Healthier Weight & Abundant Wellness

Janet K. Brown lost ninety-five pounds and has stayed trim for 17 years. While struggling with compulsive eating and depression she found her library incomplete when she searched for a book that combined a twelve-step approach with biblical support. Janet says the biggest secret to success is giving up your will and letting God do it through you. Her daily lessons are invaluable in helping anyone struggling with weight to find the strength and motivation to reach abundant health.

What can you expect in Divine Dining?

Strong will power fuels compulsive overeating and causes weight gain.

We pray for God to help, to stop the cravings, to take away the desire to overeat. Nothing lasts. We rise from our knees to try another diet, to do it ourselves. Our will power to succeed remains for days or months, but then we regain the weight, plus some. Nothing works until we give up trying and tell God that if He doesn't heal us, we're doomed.

This book of devotions teaches principles from the author's weight loss journey, combining a twelve-step approach with drawing closer to Christ and allowing Him to take His rightful place in your life. It's a life-saving and hope-giving toolbox.

Praise for Divine Dining

I love this book by Janet Brown. As I read the book, there are so many times I've said . . . I'm not alone!! Thank you for writing such an amazing devotional that talks about your struggles but also about your faith. I'm thankful I'm not alone in my journey to be a better me!!
      ~ Rodney Brumbelow

For those of us that struggle with compulsive eating, this book is a reflection of our thoughts, situations, and struggles. But also with a soul soothing promise of help, understanding, and in the end wisdom. I would definitely recommend this book!

I received my copy of Janet K. Brown's new publication Divine Dining just yesterday. It's written as a book of daily devotions designed to help those of us who struggle with weight issues. I've read the devotions up to the current date and have had to force myself not to read ahead.
Janet successfully lost 95 pounds over seventeen years ago following a struggle with herself, God, and life in general. Food controlled her. I know that feeling. She not only shares relevant scripture and a prayer each day she also shares real-life examples of her conquest. One entry discusses how she worked so very hard for her church and didn't receive the recognition others who did less received. I've been in that exact position.
Divine Dining is faith based and is used along with the 12 step program of Overeaters Anonymous. I believe readers who don't have a strong relationship with the Lord will find themselves drawn closer in large steps or tiny increments. I also believe non-believers could benefit from the human struggle and frailty shared in Janet's personal anecdotes. I highly recommend Divine Dining to anyone who is overweight, obese, or controlled by food issues.

I have just started reading this daily but it seems to have the verse I need each day so far. I have read another book by this author and enjoyed it very much too.

These aren't just words—the author lived it. The support, encouragement and Godly wisdom needed to finally win the battle! I can't wait to finish it.
